A plan for up to 85 homes in a Shropshire village has been withdrawn after council planners said it would break local policies.
The developers are now going back to the drawing board and will be looking to reduce the number of homes and lodge another application, correspondence with Telford council has shown.
Telford councillor Stephen Burrell, who represents Tibberton village, near Newport, and had opposed plans by Boningale Homes for a new mini-estate with 35% affordable homes, said the original application had been withdrawn.
Planning agent Marrons, on behalf of Boningale Homes, has told the council the applicant will resubmit an application at the appropriate point.
An objection to the proposal had been made on policy grounds by the council's local plan team.
The council said it would support the delivery of about 1,000 net new homes in the rural area up to 2031, but in Tibberton it would support limited "infill housing".
The authority had identified two potential development sites within the village "equating to 50 units".
Developers were told by the local plan team the application for 85 units "would result in a significant increase in housing within the rural area and therefore would not be considered acceptable".
